The 24-year-old hurler struck out two batters on the night and didn't issue a base on balls. He shut the Padres out completely through the first five frames, but he returned for the sixth where he allowed a single to Luis Arraez and a two-run homer to Jurickson Profar before turning the ball over to the bullpen. Rodriguez got nine whiffs on 96 at-bats on the night, registering a CSW of 28 percent. He'll look to get back in the win column as he brings a 12-4 record, 3.82 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and a 122/33 K/BB ratio (110 2/3 innings) into Wednesday's battle against the Blue Jays.
The Padres were blanked in this one, but Arraez still got his. Always an excellent source of batting average, his double was just his second extra-base hit this month. He also hasn't drawn a walk since June 29th. He will provide you with a great average and not much else.
The sweet-swinging 27-year-old sat out Sunday's first half finale and pulled himself out of the All-Star Game due to his jammed left thumb. It sounds like all is good now though, and he's right back out there as the Padres' designated hitter and leadoff hitter on Friday night against Tanner Bibee and the Guardians.
Arraez (thumb) will DH and bat leadoff for Friday's game against the Guardians.
Arraez will attend All-Star festivities in Texas but won't play for the National League in Tuesday's game due to a jammed left thumb, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
