He retired the side in order in the first inning, but ran into trouble in the second as Jordan Beck drew a leadoff walk, Kyle Karros followed with an RBI triple and Charlie Condon plated him with an RBI single. Tidwell regained his composure to retire the next three in order, but the damage had been done. He's competing with Landen Roupp, Carson Whisenhunt and Hayden Birdsong for the final spot in the Giants' Opening Day rotation.
