Wallner hit the third of three home runs off of Tigers' right-hander Kieder Montero -- a 376-foot solo shot in the second inning that increased the Twins' early lead to 3-0. He also drew a walk in the fourth inning and scored on Willi Castro's two-run single. He finished the night 1-for-3 with a pair of walks and is now slashing .237/.370/.559 with five homers and 10 RBI.
The 33-year-old backstop smacked a two-out single off of Keider Montero in the fourth inning, swiped second base and raced around to score on a two-run single off the bat of Willi Castro. He then slugged a 353-foot two-run blast off of Joey Wentz in the sixth inning, increasing the Twins' lead to 8-2. With his three-hit attack, Vazquez is now hitting .207/.236/.319 with five homers, 18 RBI and three stolen bases.
Suarez gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out four. He allowed an RBI single to Willi Castro in the third inning and a two-run single to Manuel Margot in the fifth inning. Suarez had a 1.83 ERA in his first 16 starts, but has a 7.71 ERA in his last four starts. He's seen his ERA increase to 2.87 on the year. The 28-year-old left-hander is set to face the Guardians at home this weekend.
No word on when exactly the injury occurred how long the 29-year-old shortstop is expected to be sidelined for. As a result of the late scratch, Christian Vazquez will draw a rare start at third base with Willi Castro shifting to cover shortstop and Brooks Lee starting at second base.
Harrison's run came when he was out of the game on a fielder's choice that scored Carlos Correa off the bat of Willi Castro. The 22-year-old southpaw issued only one walk while striking out three in his final start before the All-Star break. Harrison has had some ups and downs in his first full year of MLB action, but a 4.08 ERA and 73/27 K/BB over 86 innings illustrate there's reason for optimism in both the short and long-term.
