Festa authored his strongest performance in the majors yet, entering the contest with one out in the opening frame and carrying a shutout into the fifth inning before serving up a solo homer to Trea Turner, which represented the lone tally against him in this one. The 24-year-old top pitching prospect generated eight swinging strikes on his three-pitch mix and finished with a pedestrian 30 percent CSW. He's displayed stellar control so far at the highest level and is going to miss enough bats to make an impact for fantasy managers. The biggest question is whether there's enough room for him in Minnesota's starting rotation mix, especially if they decide to add at the trade deadline. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Mets on Tuesday in his next outing and is at least worthy of a speculative roster spot in all fantasy formats until further notice.
Duran was brought in to face the top of Philadelphia's lineup in a tie ballgame and managed to set down the trio of Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner and Bryce Harper on just 10 pitches (six strikes). The hard-throwing 26-year-old stopper hasn't been quite as dominant this year as the previous two seasons, especially from a run-prevention standpoint, but he's still managed to convert 15 of his 16 save opportunities and is up to six wins in relief already.
Turner singled and swiped second base -- his 13th theft of the year -- in the opening frame before blasting a solo homer -- his 13th round-tripper of the season -- off Twins rookie David Festa a couple innings later. The 31-year-old fantasy stalwart has been on an absolute heater over the last few weeks since the start of July, batting .356 (26-for-73) with 10 homers, 22 RBI and three steals in 18 games during that span.
Philadelphia Phillies' Trea Turner smashed a home run to tie the the game vs. the Minnesota Twins.
It was a strange decision by Pittsburgh to choose Perez as their first starter out of the break. Alas, Perez was hit hard from the jump here as the Phillies sent nine men to the plate in the first inning and then Trea Turner crushed a home run in his third at-bat. Perez's ERA rose to an ugly 5.61 after this outing.
