There are less than three weeks to go in the 2024 regular season
On the plus side for fantasy managers, the 31-year-old southpaw did manage to rack up eight strikeouts on the evening while issuing a pair of free passes. Dylan Crews crushed a leadoff solo home run off of him and James Wood scored on a balk as part of a two-run first inning. The Nationals then added two runs in the second and another in the fourth on an RBI double by Crews. Rodon got 16 swings and misses on 100 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 28 percent. He'll attempt to bounce back as he brings a 4.31 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and a 161/47 K/BB ratio into Tuesday's matchup against the Rangers in Arlington.
The 21-year-old budding superstar singled in the opening inning, stole second base, took third on a wild pitch and scored on a balk. He then delivered an RBI single in the second inning that ran the Nationals' lead to 4-1 and proceeded to swipe second and third base before getting stranded there. He has been awfully impressive since his promotion from Triple-A Rochester -- slashing .280/.377/.430 with five homers, 31 RBI and 11 stolen bases through his first 51 games.
With the Yankees starting a left-handed pitcher, Crews will hit second with James Wood sliding down to first. The Nationals will also move Joey Votto to the bench and put Andres Chaparro in at first base; however, it's unclear how this lineup will shake out against right-handed pitchers.
The only two runs that Quantrill allowed came on a two-run single by James Wood. Outside of that the 29-year-old pitched well while allowing all of two hits, two walks and striking out four. It's been an up-and-down year for the 29-year-old, one that sees him with a 4.56 ERA and 101/52 K/BB over 132 1/3 innings. His next start comes against the Marlins.
