Steele gave up six hits, including run-scoring singles to Jackson Chourio and Brice Turang in the first and sixth innings, respectively. He finished with four strikeouts and also handed out three free passes. It wasn't a dominant performance, but it was a much-needed bounce-back outing after getting lit up for five runs over 4 2/3 innings last Friday in his second-half debut against the Diamondbacks. He'll bring a stellar 3.08 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 91/23 K/BB ratio across 96 1/3 innings (16 starts) into a road tilt on Tuesday against the Reds.
Here's what's happening around the league with the trade deadline less than a week away
It feels like Chourio has finally arrived. His home run was a towering shot to tie this game up in the seventh inning and the longest blast of his career so far. He also scalded an RBI double earlier and hit both of these balls in play at least 107.7 MPH. His OPS is above .700 for the first time since April 20th and he's slashing .311/.368/.476 over his last 30 games.
That's a rough one. Lopez allowed an RBI single in the third to Jackson Chourio, and that was it. Unfortunately for him, the Brew Crew and fantasy managers who roster him, that was one more run than Freddy Peralta allowed Saturday. While it comes with no win, it's an excellent outing for the 28-year-old in what can best be described as an (extremely) uneven year for the right-hander. He'll look to build on this -- and get some run support -- Friday against the Tigers.
