Jackson Chourio

There wouldn't seem to be much reason to throw Chourio strikes early in the count, but Gray missed middle-middle with a sweeper to start their third matchup in the fifth. Chourio hit it out, and Gray was lifted immediately afterwards. Chourio is now tied with Christian Yelich for the Brewers lead with 41 RBI, and he's one behind Yelich in homers.

The Braves had relievers up in the eighth and ninth innings, but Schwellenbach was allowed to continue and retired Jackson Chourio, William Contreras and Jake Bauers on 11 pitches during the final frame. In all, he threw 105 pitches, and he went without a walk for the fifth time in 14 starts this year. Schwellenbach has gone 4-1 in his last six starts to improve to 5-4 with a 3.11 ERA for the season. His next start will likely come a week from today against the Mets.

Holmes allowed five hits on the night while also issuing three free passes. All of the damage that was done against him came via the long ball, with Jackson Chourio launching a two-run homer in the third inning and Jake Bauers adding on a solo shot in the sixth. The 29-year-old hurler got a whopping 20 swings and misses on 100 pitches on the evening -- six or more on each of his fastball, slider and curveball -- while posting an elite CSW of 38 percent. Now 3-5 on the season, Holmes will bring a 4.07 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 77/32 K/BB ratio (73 innings) into Tuesday's matchup against the Mets.

Chourio opened the scoring in the contest with a 409-foot (102.7 mph EV) two-run shot off of Grant Holmes in the third inning. That would be all of the run support that Quinn Priester and company would require. The 21-year-old budding superstar also reached on an infield single in the first inning. On the season, he's now hitting .257/.283/.441 to go along with 11 homers, 39 RBI and 13 stolen bases.

Iglesias struck out Jackson Chourio and Christian Yelich, with William Contreras hitting a routine flyout in between. Iglesias has lost his hold on the closer's gig in Atlanta after blowing his fourth save on Thursday, but it's hard to see how any of the other righties in the Braves bullpen are better bets going forward. Southpaw Dylan Lee, who finished up tonight's game, might be, but he's also likely more valuable being matched up against tough lefties. Iglesias is worth considering in leagues in which he was dropped.
