NBC SportsSpencer Horwitz went 2-for-4 with a double on Saturday in the Blue Jays' lopsided defeat at the hands of the Diamondbacks.

Horwitz was the lone Toronto batter to record multiple hits during Saturday's blowout loss at Chase Field. The 26-year-old appears poised to play a prominent role for the Blue Jays in the second half once they finally pivot fully towards a rebuild. He's batting .330 (32-for-97) with four homers and 11 RBI over 31 games since arriving in the majors last month.

NBC SportsSpencer Horwitz went 2-for-5 with a solo homer on Thursday, propelling the Blue Jays to a 5-3 victory over the Giants.

Horwitz is one of a handful of youngsters on the verge of a prominent role moving forward if Toronto decides to offload some of it's veteran talent over the next few weeks prior to the trade deadline. The 26-year-old prospect has shown some real promise over the last few weeks, batting .322 (29-for-90) with four homers and 10 RBI through 29 games this season in the big leagues. He's definitely worthy of a roster spot for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues.

NBC SportsJordan Hicks was torched for five runs over 4 1/3 innings on Thursday in a loss to the Blue Jays.

Hicks gave up plenty of hard contact in an abbreviated outing during Thursday afternoon's matinee at Oracle Park, surrendering a whopping eight hits, including solo homers to Danny Jansen and Spencer Horwitz. He notched only one strikeout and also issued one walk. The 27-year-old righty has faded over the last couple weeks as he's established a new career-high mark for innings pitched, so he probably needs next week's All-Star break more than most at this juncture. He'll bring a 3.79 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 83/36 K/BB ratio across 95 innings (19 starts) into the second half.

NBC SportsLuis Castillo allowed just two hits with eight strikeouts while holding the Blue Jays to one run in a victory Friday.

Castillo took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before allowing a solo homer to Kevin Kiermaier to break up the no-no and the shutout. He allowed a single to Spencer Horwitz a batter later, but that was it in terms of hits. It was a sensational outing for Castillo which has been the usual for the right-hander at home; he has a 2.14 ERA over his last 12 dozen outings in Seattle. The road has been a tougher task for him, but for the most part, Castillo has been a strong option in 2024. This was an example of him at his best.
