Jonathan Aranda broke a 1-1 tie with a three-run homer in the eighth inning as Mexico defeated Great Britain 8-2 on Friday.With Harry Ford homering in the fourth, Great Britain kept this one tight until the end, but Aranda's 346-foot homer into the Crawford Boxes in Houston's Daikin Park settled matters. Mexico then added four runs in the ninth before Great Britain surprisingly pushed one across against Andres Munoz in the bottom of the inning. Javier Assad started for Mexico and pitched 3 2/3 scoreless frames. Nacho Alvarez Jr. homered for Mexico's only run through seven innings.

Harry Ford went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer Tuesday as Great Britain beat the Brewers 7-3.The homer was a 418-foot shot off Jared Koenig. Ford probably isn't helping his chances of making the Nationals by taking part in his second World Baseball Classic, but barring quite the upset by Great Britain in Pool B, he could be back with the team in a week. He could wind up Triple-A for a spell to start the year while the Nationals decide what they're doing with Keibert Ruiz.
