Talks began in the spring but "failed to progress beyond the initial stages." Azout reports that "The Miami Marlins and Eury Perez were approximately $15 million apart on a potential contract extension," and talks have stalled for now. The 22-year-old posted a 4.25 ERA over 95 1/3 innings in 2025 after coming back from Tommy John surgery. While the results were inconsistent, Perez showcased the same ace upside that he flashed before injury.
