He played third base and went 0-for-3 on Tuesday. There's been no confirmation yet, but the Twins could get both Lewis and Jose Miranda back from the injured list on Friday. Edouard Julien, Jair Camargo, Austin Martin are candidates to be demoted to make room.
It'll surely be a short assignment, barring a setback. Lewis figures to do a fair amount of DHing after returning, so both Edouard Julien and Brooks Lee should remain with the team.
Miranda is progressing in his recovery from a lower back strain, but he's going to need at least a few more days before he's ready to rejoin the big-league club. Expect Austin Martin and Edouard Julien to continue to provide infield depth while Miranda, Carlos Correa and Royce Lewis are sidelined.
It had been reported before the All-Star break that Correa was battling plantar fasciitis again, so this move doesn't come as a total surprise. No word yet on how long he'll be shelved for. Edouard Julien was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul to take his spot on the Twins' roster.
The 25-year-old gets another shot with the big-league club with Carlos Correa (heel) landing on the injured list on Saturday. Since his demotion to Triple-A on June 3, Julien has hit .233/.400/.380 with five homers, 11 RBI, four stolen bases and a 49/35 K/BB ratio over 165 plate appearances. It'll be interesting to see how he's utilized with Correa shelved.
