Grissom might finally have found his stroke; he's hit .393 with two homers and 13 RBI in his last seven games. It's probably too late to put him into Boston's plans for this month, but a strong finish would make him a more interesting option going into what figures to be a pretty crowded second base situations next year.
The reason for the decision to promote Valdez instead of Vaughn Grissom is due to the fact that Grissom needs every day at-bats so they don't want him playing sporadically at the big-league level. Valdez has hit .224/.282/.400 with six homers and 27 RBI in 170 at-bats with the Red Sox this season.
