NBC SportsThe Athletic's Jen McCaffrey reports that Grissom "could see a rehab assignment within the next couple weeks."

After the Red Sox traded Chris Sale to get Grissom this offseason, the 23-year-old has only played in 23 games. He began the year on the IL with a hamstring injury and then was sidelined a month later when they resurfaced. According to McCaffrey, "The Red Sox have tried to balance out the strength in each hamstring to ensure he can stay on the field." With David Hamilton playing well, the Red Sox likely won't rush Grissom back, but his eventual return could complicate playing time in the middle infield.

NBC SportsDavid Hamilton is back in the lineup with the Red Sox facing right-hander Luis Medina.

Hamilton will start at second base and hit second, which is typical for him against righties. Wilyer Abreu and Dominic Smith are also back in the lineup after sitting out on Wednesday against a left-handed pitcher.

NBC SportsTyler O'Neill is not in the lineup for Saturday's showdown against the Yankees.

It appears to be a routine maintenance day for O'Neill with Yankees ace Gerrit Cole on the mound on Saturday afternoon. The -year-old slugger has started six of Boston's last eight contests since last Friday. It'll be Jarren Duran in left field, Ceddanne Rafaela in center field and David Hamilton getting the nod at shortstop in this one.

NBC SportsDavid Hamilton is not in the Red Sox' starting lineup once again with an opposing southpaw on the hill on Friday.

The 26-year-old speedster has seen his playing time squeezed as of late, as he hasn't even been a regular against right-handed pitching this week. Once again, Enmanuel Valdez will start in his place at second base and will bat eighth for the Red Sox against Nestor Cortes and the Yankees on Friday night.

NBC SportsDavid Hamilton stole two bases while scoring twice and driving in a run in a victory over the Marlins in 12 innings on Thursday.

Hamilton went 1-for-5 in the contest with the walk. The speedy 26-year-old has provided plenty of thefts for the Red Sox and fantasy managers -- and himself, of course, he should take pride in his work -- and he's now up to 23 of them in just 57 games. That's certainly his best category, but Hamilton hasn't been useless in others with a .267/.317/.418 slash over 165 at-bats.
