David Hamilton

Player News

Campbell was good enough to hit cleanup on Saturday but now not good enough to play the last two days? David Hamilton, who could be playing at Trevor Story's expense instead, is starting at second base again tonight.

It appears to be a routine day off for Campbell, who has run into an extended cold spell at the plate in recent weeks, hitting .197/.271/.308 with three homers and one steal over his last 30 games. The 22-year-old top prospect, who started taking defensive reps at first base earlier this week during pre-game drills, will get a break during Sunday's series finale to resent mentally. He's far too talented to continue struggling, but he's going through it at the moment. It'll be utility infielder David Hamilton at the keystone on Sunday afternoon.

Campbell will miss another game after being scratched from Thursday's lineup with what is being described as soreness in his ribs. The 22-year-old should be considered day-to-day, but he'll miss at least the start of Friday's bout with Minnesota. David Hamilton gets the start at second base while Campbell recovers.
