The Rays got to Berrios in the second inning when right fielder Josh Lowe singled to drive in Randy Arozarena. Berrios later fell victim to Brandon Lowe in the fifth inning when Lowe smashed a 408-foot homer to plate Richie Palacios and push the Rays' lead to 3-0. Berrios would strike out Randy Arozarena in the following at-bat but was pulled in favor of Brandon Little after tossing 97 pitches. If not for a flurry of walks, Berrios may have seen a longer outing. The veteran righty has allowed three or more earned runs in each of his last four starts and has been held under five innings in his last two outings. He'll hope for a better outing in his next start, which is scheduled for Sunday against the Rangers.
No word on how long exactly the Rays expect Diaz to be away from the team, but fantasy managers should swap him out for the weekend if they have a viable replacement available. Richie Palacios will start in his place on Friday night against the Yankees and will bat leadoff against Gerrit Cole and the Yankees.
