Ober gave up four hits, walked one and struck out four. The win was Ober's ninth of the season and fourth in his last six starts. He allowed a two-run home run to Bryce Harper in the first inning, but otherwise kept the Phillies offense in check for the rest of his outing. Ober has a 4.04 ERA on the year, but has been excellent in his last six games with a 2.24 ERA and SO:BB of 45:7 in 40 1/3 innings. The 29-year-old right-hander is set to face the Tigers on the road this weekend.
Harper's home run was his 23rd of the season and third in his last six games. He hit a two-run shot off Bailey Ober in the third inning. Harper's hitting .297 with a .973 OPS and 65 RBI on the season.
Ober allowed only four hits, but they came in sets of two and the last was a homer, resulting in one run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth. It goes down as Ober's fifth straight quality start, but a little better was needed today. He closes out the first half 8-5 with a 4.14 ERA.
With steady rain in the forecast throughout the evening in Chicago, the two sides aren't going to take any chances and will instead play a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. Tuesday's original scheduled starters -- Bailey Ober and Erick Fedde -- will presumably take the ball at some point during the twin bill at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Ober and the Twins won't face the White Sox on Tuesday due to inclement weather.
