Lugo and Michael Wacha will following Opening Day starter Cole Ragans against the division-rival Guardians before Kris Bubic and Michael Lorenzen kick off a road series early next week against the Brewers.
The only downside from Wacha's final spring tune-up was that he coughed up three solo homers. The 33-year-old will open the season as a matchup-dependent streaming option in deeper mixed leagues. He'll presumably take the ball this weekend against the Guardians in his first regular-season outing.
The lone run came on a Tyler Fitzgerald homer. Wacha lowered his spring ERA from 12.38 to 8.31 with the performance. Still, he remained largely ineffective with his fastball. All five balls in play against it were hit hard, with the exit velocities ranging from 97.6 mph to 109 mph.
On the plus side, Wacha punched out four batters on the day while issuing only one base on balls. The 33-year-old hurler navigated a scoreless first inning, but the Halos tacked on runs against him in every other frame including a two-run double by Kevin Newman in the second and a two-run blast by Jorge Soler in the third. Wacha hasn't had much fun in Cactus League action, compiling a 12.38 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and 10/3 K/BB ratio over eight innings. He's not getting much respect from fantasy managers, with an average draft position sitting just inside the top 300 picks overall.
Soler victimized Royals' right-hander Michael Wacha for a loud two-run blast in the third inning that extended the Halos' lead to 4-1. The 33-year-old slugger also plated a run in the fourth inning with a two-out RBI double. He has been sizzling at the plate this spring, hitting a robust .375 (12-for-32) with four homers and 10 RBI. The hot spring seems to have had an impact on his draft price, as Soler has crept just inside the top 200 players overall in recent drafts.
