Jung (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment Friday at Double-A Frisco, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Wednesday that Carter (back) is "about a week behind" Josh Jung (wrist) in their respective timelines to return from the injured list, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
The 26-year-old slugger has been sidelined since early April when he underwent surgery to repair a fractured wrist and is finally closing in on a return to the Rangers' lineup. The expectation is that he'll play in games through the weekend before potentially joining the Rangers for the start if next week if everything goes well.
There is no firm timetable on when Jung could return but Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Jung could be in the lineup next week if he continues to respond well to his on-field hitting. He will likely need another short rehab assignment after being pulled off of his last one with a setback.
Fellow rehabbing slugger Josh Jung is set to begin a minor league rehab assignment at Double-A Frisco on Friday and Carter is believed to be about a week behind Jung in his recovery. The 21-year-old outfielder has been shelved since the end of May due to a back sprain.
