Fulmer also issued a pair of walks while striking out three in the ballgame. The A's scored a pair of runs against him in the third inning on RBI doubles by JJ Bleday and Brent Rooker. He then served up a solo homer to Miguel Andujar before departing in the fifth. Fulmer generated eight swings and misses on 77 pitches on the night, posting a 31 percent CSW. He'll try again to earn his first victory of the season as he carries a 3.66 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and a 52/25 K/BB ratio (51 2/3 innings) into Friday's rematch against the A's.
Bleday hit one of three homers for the A's in a game where Oakland provided 13 runs of offense. The 26-year-old's two-run shot came off Matt Moore and extended the Athletics' lead to 11-3. Bleday has put together a decent 2024 campaign with 12 homers and a .745 OPS.
Bleday went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, a walk and four runs in an 18-3 win over the Phillies on Sunday.
As is often the case, Bleday gets a night off with an opposing left-hander on the mound -- in this case it's Ranger Suarez. Daz Cameron will start in his place in center field and bat leadoff for the A's on Friday evening in Philadelphia.
