Michael King

King, 29, gave up two runs on a Zach Neto homer in the third, but outside of that it was another strong outing for the right-handed hurler. It's the fourth time this season he's reached at least eight punchouts, and he improved his K/BB to 56/16 while issuing just a pair of free passes. King deserved better than this result, but the Padres bullpen self-destructed Monday evening. He'll take an excellent 2.32 ERA into a scheduled start Sunday against the Mariners.

Paul Skenes, Cristopher S nchez and Michael King are among the projected two-start pitchers for the second week of May.

Padres RHP Michael King will enter free agency this offseason, and a reunion with the New York Yankees isn't out of the question.

Paul Goldschmidt has the day off, so Dominguez, who is need of a big game or two, is hitting a little higher than usual. It's lefties that Dominguez is struggling with, though all but one of his off days this year has come with a righty on the mound. The switch-hitter is batting .306/.377/.468 against righties and .083/.214/.167 versus lefties.

He also walked and scored a second run. The homer was a 340-footer to the opposite field that Fernando Tatis Jr. was a couple of feet shy of catching. It would have been a homer in three ballparks, according to Statcast. It moved Judge into a tie with Cal Raleigh and Kyle Schwarber for the MLB lead in homers.
