Christian Yelich

Player News

Vaughn will remain in the minors and report to Triple-A Nashville. If he starts tearing it up there, perhaps the Brewers would consider making some room for him by playing Christian Yelich in the outfield, but they'll cross that bridge when they come to it. Vaughn hit just .189/.218/.314 in 48 games for the White Sox before being demoted, though his exit velocity numbers were actually a little better than his career norms. He'd hit .211/.328/.351 in 15 games for Triple-A Charlotte. Given his current $5.85 million salary, he'll need to experience a real breakthrough to avoid being non-tendered this winter.

Civale gets his wish, maybe? Going to the White Sox probably wasn't what he had in mind, but at least he'll be back in the rotation, and he could wind up with a contender again later this summer. Vaughn figures to remain in the minors for now, at least unless Christian Yelich requires an IL stint.

Yelich (wrist) will return to the starting lineup Thursday against the Cardinals, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

There wouldn't seem to be much reason to throw Chourio strikes early in the count, but Gray missed middle-middle with a sweeper to start their third matchup in the fifth. Chourio hit it out, and Gray was lifted immediately afterwards. Chourio is now tied with Christian Yelich for the Brewers lead with 41 RBI, and he's one behind Yelich in homers.

This is the second straight day Yelich is out of the lineup because of renewed swelling in his right wrist after being hit by a pitch in Philadelphia on the last road trip. We've seen both Bryce Harper and Matt Chapman recently miss a couple of games after being hit by a pitch on the hand and then subsequently go on the injured list, so it's not out of the question that the same thing happens with Yelich. This is a situation to monitor.
