Ahmed hit his first homer in a Dodger uniform, and it was a big one as it gave Los Angeles a 5-4 lead in the eighth inning. The 34-year-old also singled. Ahmed is going to get a chance to play with Miguel Rojas on the injured list, but he's a much better real-life player because of his glove than one who has fantasy value.
The Dodgers signed free agent shortstop Nick Ahmed on Wednesday as a replacement for the injured Miguel Rojas.
The Dodgers are signing shortstop Nick Ahmed to a big league deal and placing Miguel Rojas on the injured list, tweets Fabian Ardaya of the Athletic. David Vassegh of 570 Sports first noted (on X) that Ahmed was with the team. More to come.
The 35-year-old infielder left Sunday's game due to tightness in his right forearm and it doesn't sound like it improved much over the last few days, so they'll sit him down for a bit to make sure that he heals properly. Nick Ahmed was signed to a major league contract and will take his place on the Dodgers' active roster.
The 34-year-old shortstop will be active and in uniform for Wednesday night's battle against his former team -- the Giants. Miguel Rojas (forearm) landed on the injured list in a corresponding move on Wednesday. Expect Ahmed so see most of his action with the Dodgers against left-handed pitching, though he's unlikely to be relevant from a fantasy perspective.
