Luis Campusano

Maldonado has been a complete zero at the dish for over a decade at this point, but he remains a league-average defender behind the plate, which gives him some appeal for San Diego as emergency catching depth behind Luis Campusano and Brett Sullivan. The 38-year-old can be safely ignored for fantasy purposes until further notice.

The 26-year-old backstop opened the 2024 season as the Padres' starting catcher and finished it in disappointing fashion at Triple-A El Paso. Campusano wound up hitting just .227/.281/.361 with eight long balls and 40 RBI in 299 plate appearances with the Padres. Fortunately for him, there's not much standing in his way in terms of competition, so the door is open to regain the starting gig heading into the 2025 season.
