Why do my custom rankings differ from the rest of the rankings on the Fantasy Nerds website?

The rankings on the Fantasy Nerds website are aggregated from multiple sources using specific scoring systems, and then weighted based upon the accuracy of each source.

Custom rankings differ because the scoring categories may differ (example 6 points awarded for a passing touchdown versus industry standard of 4 points). Additionally, and perhaps just as influential, custom rankings utilize a Value-Based Draft (VBD) algorithm which not every site that we aggregate from will use.

VBD rankings are created by first calculating total projected points for every player. We then set a baseline for every position based upon consensus ADP values. This is used to create an X value for every player. We then run through the rankings and recalculate after each player is removed from the player pool to determine the need for that position and adjust accordingly.

For this reason, the underlying algorithms will differ and more-often-than-not produce different rankings.
